The Leawood Lions Club will hold its general meeting on Tuesday, March 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the Oak Room at Leawood City Hall. Our featured speaker will be Leawood Mayor Marc Elkins, who will recap his annual State of the City address. Mayor Elkins will share highlights of Leawood’s accomplishments in 2025 and outline key goals and projects for 2026.
Mayor Elkins has long been a strong supporter of the Leawood Lions Club and an active leader in the community. He became Mayor of Leawood on January 2, 2024, after 18 years of service on the Leawood Planning Commission, including nine years as Chairman. During his tenure, he helped shape the city’s residential and commercial development and guide its long-term planning vision.
In addition to his civic leadership, Mayor Elkins remains an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, supporting Scout units across the Midwest—including Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, southern Illinois, western Iowa, and much of Colorado and Wyoming.
In addition to his public service, Mayor Elkins has served on the Board of Directors for the Leawood Community Foundation for 14 years. A native of Manhattan, Kansas, he earned his degree in Nuclear Engineering with honors from Kansas State University and a law degree from the University of Kansas, where he served as an editor of the Kansas Law Review.
Please join us for a great evening with Mayor Elkins as we learn about the city’s progress and its plans for the year ahead.
